Ajimobi in Iseyin, inaugurates NYSC orientation camp
The campaign train of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Friday moved to Iseyin, with a mammoth crowd welcoming him into the ancient town where he inaugurated the newly-constructed NYSC orientation camp.
The governor performed the inauguration of the camp said to be the best in Nigeria as part of his campaign tour of the Oke Ogun zone of the state.
It would be recalled that NYSC in the state had been operating its orientation camp from a temporary site for over 20 years before the advent of the present administration.
While inaugurating the project, Governor Ajimobi rated his administration high in terms of the provision of social and physical infrastructure for the state.
He said the orientation camp epitomized the quality of his administration, adding that the dualized Iseyin township road would also be inaugurated very soon.
The governor, who described the permanent orientation camp as the best in Nigeria, said his administration embarked on the project based on its developmental tripod of restoration, transformation and repositioning.
He also declared that the camp encapsulated the dreams of his administration to restore the lost glory of the state as a pace setter state.
In her response, the state coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Funmilayo Akin-Moses commended the various achievements of the governor, particularly in the education sector.
According to her, Governor Ajimobi’s efforts at completing the permanent orientation camp would remain indelible in the minds of the people of the state.
The governor, while addressing a mammoth crowd of APC faithful at the campaign ground, he said that his administration had done a lot for the people of Iseyin through political appointments and massive infrastructural development.
He assured them of more developmental project if given another opportunity to remain in office.
Governor Ajimobi had earlier held a meeting with stakeholders and religious leaders at the secretariat of Iseyin Local Government Council where he sought for continued unity and peaceful co-existence among all religious adherents, stressing that his administration would not tolerate politics of bitterness, deceit and character assassination.
At the palace of Sabiganna of Iganna, Oba Muhammed Soliu Oyemonla commended Governor Ajimobi for the administrative wizardry which he had exhibited in the development of the state.
He particularly expressed appreciation to the governor for the rehabilitation of Iganna-Aiyegun Road and the dualization of entry points to all the major towns in the state, especially Iseyin which, he said, was having its first dualized road since its existence.
