Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria on this year’s Eid-el Kabir festival, admonishing them to imbibe the spirit of togetherness and peaceful co-existence so as to enhance the growth and development of the country.

The governor, in his message to Islamic faithful issued in Ibadan on Friday, said that it was only in an atmosphere of peace that Nigeria could achieve the desired greatness and be counted among the comity of economically-viable nations.

Senator Ajimobi, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, condemned the wanton killing, maiming and destruction of property, particularly in the North-Eastern parts of the country, saying it was an ill-wind that would not blow anybody any good.

“Bloodshed cannot make us a great nation. Whatever are our grouses against the Nigerian nation can be resolved at a roundtable. Let us explore the chances of resolutions of our differences rather than shedding blood of innocent Nigerians’’ he said.

While congratulating Muslims on the festival, Sen. Ajimobi urged them to use the occasion of the Eid-El-Kabir to pray for the peace, progress and economic emancipation of the country.

He also urged members of the political class to tread softly and exhibit high level maturity as preparations for next year’s general elections gathers momentum.

Governor Ajimobi admonished Nigerians to continue to exhibit love towards their fellow human beings and dedication to the service of humanity as exhibited by the Holy Prophet Ibrahim.

The governor said that his administration had done everything within its power and available resources to lift up the state and ensure that it was put on a sound footing.
