Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has approved the use of the Central Modern Abattoir at Akinyele, Ibadan pending its official commissioning.

The governor’s approval is sequel to the request made to him by the state branch of the National Butchers’ Union of Nigeria that its members in Ibadanland be allowed to move into the abattoir.

Consequently, Governor Ajimobi has directed butchers in all the 11 local government areas in Ibadanland to move to the modern Abbatoir on or before Friday, September 19, 2014.

It will be recalled that the ultra-modern abattoir was a public-private partnership initiative between the state government and C & E Limited and it was on build, operate and transfer arrangement.

It was designed to serve all the 11 local government areas in Ibadanland.

The butchers’ union, in a letter dated September 8, 2014, expressed appreciation to Governor Ajimobi for the recent inauguration of its state headquarters as well as the good work he had been doing in the state.
