AIG FLAGS OFF HUMAN RIGHT TRAINING FOR SARS OPERATIVES
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 2 command Lagos AIG Abdulmajid Ali, on Monday flagged off a 3 day workshop on human rights and Police-Citizens Relation,on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police IGP Ibrahim Idris at the conference Hall of ozone 2 command Onikan Lagos.
The workshop was organised by the Inspector- Geberal of Police in conjunction with a Non Governmental Organisation, Nigerians Unite Against Terror led by Dr Joe Oke Odumakin and was held simultaneously at the 12 zonal commands all over the federation.
While addressing the participants at the workshop, AIG Ali admonished them to imbibe the teachings and knowledge the workshop will offer since the present leadership of the Nigeria Police keys into the paradigm shift and restructuring of our systems to have a better Nigeria. He stated that the Special Anti Robbery of the Police is not to engage in any act that can drag the Police in the mud.
The police boss, who declared the workshop open, on behalf of the IGP, appreciated the resource persons from the NGO and Civil Society Organisations and selected senior police officers,who have taken their time,to prepare lectures on fundamentals of modern policing with a view to improving on the practices of the Police. And warned that anyone caught in any unprofessional conduct will be severely dealt with.
The resource persons at the workshop included CP Chris Ezekie,Commandant Police College Ikeja who spoke on Arrest and Detention, ACP Ishola Babaita who spoke on scene of crime management and community policing and Mr Ganzallo who represented Dr Joe Oke Odumakin lectured on Human Rights and police-Citizens relation and some others.
The workshop,which ends on Friday,has taken care of many crucial and relevant topics as related to modern policing practices and many of such workshops will also be organised across board for police personnel all over the country,particularly within zone 2 command.
