Bukola-Saraki

The new Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday administered the oath of office and allegiance on his former fellow contender, Ahmad Lawan and 27 of his supporters, whom were all absent at the formal inauguration of the Eighth Senate on Tuesday.

The senators had been absent because they were at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari, so as to squash the discord between the two contestants and decide a final, unopposed choice for the elections.

Only 23 APC senators were in attendance at the election and after his victory, Saraki administered oath of office and allegiance on 75 other senators.

The remaining Senators, led by Senator Ahmad Lawan, today, arrived at the chamber to be formally sworn in.
