Africa's Next Top Model Premieres

 

The Africa’s Next Top Model Launch Party was held at Pravada Lounge in V.I on November 8. The Show was slated for 6pm and the Press Conference was to start at about 7:15pm.

The venue was filled with Gorgeous Ushers, Cameramen, Press-men and stylishly dressed people. Organisations sponsoring the show like Verve, Etisalat and Snapp were also represented.

Girded in an Orange dress, the Host of the Party and Creator of the Africa’s Next Top Model Show, Oluchi Onweagba-Orlandi thanked everyone who attended and told newsmen at the Press conference that she was very happy she was finally achieving her passion and believed if she could attain the heights she has in the Modelling world, anyone could.

The show is modelled after the America’s Next Top Model Show created by Tyra Banks and will have 12 girls from all over Africa competing for the top price which includes a 1-year modelling contract with a New York based modelling agency – DNA, a product endorsement deal and a cash prize of $50,000.

When asked what viewers should expect, Onweagba-Orlandi said they should expect a great show like the America’s Next Top Model Show, just as the promotional clips on DSTV has shown.

She told newsmen that the scouting was done by herself and a scouting director in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and other African countries. Judges on the show include Josie Borain (Photographer/Former Supermodel), Remi Adetiba (Photographer), David Tlale (Fashion Designer) and a line up of surprise guest judges.

The First Episode of the show which premiered at 8:15pm and showed a few clips of Onweagba-Orlandi’s days when she was discovered in 1998 and the a 6-month-journey through the search for the girls. It also showed some parts of the auditions, the selection of the girls and their arrival in the house set in Cape-town, South Africa.

The show, produced by Lulu Productions and Never Machine, will start airing on November 10 on DSTV Africa Magic Entertainment Channel 151 at 18:00 Nigerian time and will be broadcast every Sunday.
