ADC Ogun West Senatorial Candidate Debunks Stepping Down for Yayi
The Ogun West Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Chief Opaleye Micheal has debunked the story in some national newspaper that he stepped down for Senator Yayi.
He made this known at a press conference held at the ADC party secretariat today, Tuesday 24th of January 2023.
Chief Opaleye Michael said he was invited by the Olota of Ota on Sunday 22nd of January, 2023 for a tête-à-tête regarding his strategies to win his election. Surprisingly, he met some kings, chiefs, Senator Yayi and the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Naimot.
In his statement, he further explained that, “I was introduced by the Olota of Ota to the dignitaries as the Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Ogun West. They even gave me the microphone to make a speech where I greeted everyone seated, before proceeding to my seat. I was however surprised to hear from the moderator of the event that I was stepping down. I angrily stood up, stepped forward to collect the mic to say that I was not stepping down for anyone. Then I walked out of the palace.”
He exclaimed his disappointment when he later read that he had stepped down for Senator Yayi at the event. While addressing news men in Abeokuta, Chief Opaleye categorically affirmed that he will never step down for anyone as he joined the race to win the senatorial seat of Ogun West.
“Those mischievous people can keep up with with lies and schemes. I will not be caught along in their illusions or dirty agendas. Our agenda to fix Ogun State will be done irrespective of these plots”.
