Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon Donates back to Community
Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS) today donated items worth over 
N300m as part of his Constituency Project to people from the Lagos West Senatorial District.
The items distributed serve as Poverty Alleviation Programme for the masses and included deep freezers, generators, grinding machines, sterilizers, massagers, dryers, sewing machines, clippers, motorcycles and protective helmets worth millions of naira.
Financial assistance running into millions was also extended to the elderly, men, women, students and youth across the district with each ward providing beneficiaries.
The Senator who vowed to continue to expend millions of Naira every year in empowerment and financial assistance to thousands of constituents said while giving out the gifts.
“In the course of my campaigns, I made promises & I am determined within the limits of my personal resources to fulfil them.
“I am of the firm belief that holders of political position hold a position of trust and must therefore fulfill the people’s aspirations. In the course of my campaigns and interaction with our people I made promises and I am determined within the limits of my personal resources to fulfil them. It is in pursuance of this that I have enunciated various programmes aimed at empowering our people. Some of these include Youth/Women empowerment/Poverty Alleviation, Education, Health, Power etc.
“These are primarily aimed at emancipation of our people from the ugly claws of poverty and the eradication of the high level of illiteracy among my constituents. I want to point out that these programmes are being carried out in phases and will be continuous. It is in order to ensure that these programmes continue and outlive me that they are being carried out under the GOS (Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon) foundation which I established several years ago.”
The GOS Foundation has series of responsibilities it performs like the Skills Acquisition Scheme (SAS); Placement of trainees in various vocations; Training of women in many vocations including in the art of tie and dye; Training of women on soap making and confectioneries.
Several works the Senator’s foundation is also responsible for include the renovation of The juvenile (welfare) home at Alakara, Mushin; Provision of boreholes for several communities in the Senatorial District; Repair of the pedestrian bridge at Onipanu, Lagos; Provision of the installation of 500KVA transformers in the Senatorial District; Financial assistance for the provision of shelter to hundreds of FAMILIES; Health Care Support (HCS); Provision of eye glasses (free of charge); Micro Credit Scheme (MCS); Interest free loan worth millions of Naira to PETTY traders; Poverty Alleviation Scheme (PAS); Business take-off grants for constituents.
The foundation also plans to offer other responsibilities such as Education Development Programme (EDP); Distribution of GCE forms to indigent students; Printing and distribution of educational resource materials among various groups; Scholarship awards to best students (finalists) in all the district public Secondary Schools; Financial assistance for free-coaching classes; and Infrastructural Support (IS).
