Labour Party Chairman’s 3rd Term Ambition Tears Party apart

Sharing is caring!

A major crisis is currently brewing in the National Working Committee of the Labour Party over the alleged third term bid of its Chief Dan Nwanyanwu 1National Chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu.

According to a letter addressed to the Chairman by the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Babatunde Ayelabola, warning him of the dire consequence of the bid.

In a copy of the letter dated October 9, 2013 obatined by NigerianEcho on Tuesday, Ayelabola reminded the party chairman that by December 19,  it would be four years since the second convention of the party where he was returned to run for a second term was held, having been elected on February 2004 at the first convention.

He said by this time, all well-meaning party members were looking forward to the convocation of the third party convention and Nwanyanwu handing over as the national chairman after spending almost a decade in that office.

He said he was constrained to point out what he described as the obvious due to some unclear signals that he might be interested in self-perpetuation as the party chairman.

Such a step, he argued, would not augur well for either the party chairman or the party.
