Ogun Stands Still As Friends, Supporters Celebrate Adeola Yayi At 56
Ogun State was locked down on Sunday, August 10, 2025 as friends and associates of the Senator representing Ogun West and Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation, Solomon Adeola Yayi, gathered around various locations across the three senatorial districts of the state to celebrate him on the occasion of his 56th birthday anniversary. The senator donated 102 transformers to 435 Community Development Associations across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, to mark the occasion.
Adeola, who also supported the energisation of the transformers, said the initiative aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving electricity supply in communities nationwide. The transformers, with capacities ranging from 500kVA/33, 500kVA/11, 300kVA/33 to 300kVA/11, were distributed based on the needs of the beneficiary communities.
A total of 17 local government areas covering 432 communities, benefited from the scheme.

Speaking at the Ogun West location of the event in Ilaro, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, noted that the event was a surprise birthday party as the celebrant wasn’t carried along. He said that similar scenarios played out in Ijebu-Igbo the Ogun East location and Abeokuta Sports Complex , Ogun Central location.
“Solomon Adeola is no doubt a very responsive lawmaker. He cares for the people, and he is doing that selflessly.
“This birthday celebration, put together by his friends an associates, is to thank God on his behalf and further pray for him so that he will always be in a good frame of mind to continue to serve the people of the country. I also wish to appreciate our Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, the leader of the APC in Ogun State, for providing the enabling environment that allows Senator Yayi to deliver on his promises. His support and leadership remain invaluable in our collective drive for progress.

“Once again, I congratulate Senator Adeola Yayi on this special occasion and pray for greater strength, wisdom, and accomplishments in the service of our dear nation”, the Minister stated.
People of Ogun West Senatorial District at the event, declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, affirming that in 2027 the zone stands firmly behind “his mandate.” President Tinubu was commended for his bold reforms and interventions aimed at restoring the nation’s economy to a path of growth and prosperity. The people of Ogun West also pledged continued support for their son, Senator Adeola, appreciating him for his effective representation and commitment to the President’s success.

The Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the event and the Commissioner of Housing in the state, Jamiu Akande Omoniyi, also expressed delight that friends and supporters of the senator could come together to honour him and appreciate his unprecedented performance in the National Assembly.
Earlier, the media aide to Senator Adeola, Chief Kayode Odunaro, in a release, said Adeola decided to facilitate the 102 transformers after his office was inundated with many requests for transformers by many communities, adding that it is a thing of joy for him to bring light to various homes and businesses through the provision of transformers and their energization.

The celebrations took place in Ilaro (Ogun West), Abeokuta (Ogun Central), Ijebu Igbo (Ogun East) and Abuja, in the Federal Capital Territory.
Related to the provision of transformers in the “Light Up Ogun State” is the provision and installation of solar power street lights along streets, markets, communities and palaces with over 16500 poles installed so far across Ogun West senatorial district and beyond.
“Let me state clearly that this facilitation is an ongoing process as there are still many more communities in darkness as a result of damage or inadequate energy infrastructure. I will continue to address these challenges that are already compiled in my office”, Odunaro stated
