Omisore’s failure to approach tribunal after 2011 poll, sign of electoral worthlessness – Aregbesola
Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Sunday said, the failure of Senator Iyiola Omisore, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the forthcoming August 9 gubernatorial election to contest the result of senatorial election in 2011 was an admittance of electoral worthlessness, contending that he should stop his campaign of calumny against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Commissioner, in the state, Ambassador Oluwatoyin Akeju.
In a statement signed by Aregbesola’s Director, Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, and made available to NigerianEcho , the Governor said “Omisore lost all moral grounds to condemn the Osun REC when he failed to approach the tribunal after he was thoroughly trounced in the 2011 National Assembly election in which he lost his bid to return to the Senate.
The statement reads:, “the ilk of unpopular politicians like Omisore forced themselves on the helpless people for so long through various under-hand and undemocratic practices such as violence, threat, deceit that they lived under the illusion that they had the support of the people.”
