Oyo APC ward congresses peaceful – Committee Chairman
The State Congresses Committee Chairman for Oyo State, Engr. Sola Akinwumi has assessed the conduct of the ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in the state on Saturday, saying that it was generally peaceful.
Engr. Akinwumi made the declaration on Sunday while addressing newsmen at the South-West zonal headquarters of the party at Alakia area of Ibadan.
He said that the exercise was peaceful in 30 local government areas of the state, while it was disrupted in the remaining three council areas of Atiba, Oyo West and Ogo Oluwa.
The Congresses Committee Chairman said that the party was reviewing the conduct of the exercise in the affected three local governments, adding that as soon as it decided on the next line of action, members of the party would be communicated.
He commended members of the party across the state for their orderly and peaceful conduct during the ward congresses, saying that they had further demonstrated that APC was for the peace, progress and development of the country.
Engr. Akinwumi also commended the security agencies, particularly the police for the high level of professionalism they exhibited and for the maintenance of law and order while the exercise lasted.
He said that his committee would continue to work for the general interest of the party, even as he called for more cohesion within the party in order to ensure its victory at the polls.
