8 UNIMAD students die, 5 others injured in auto crash in Bauchi

Eight studeants of University of Maiduguri have died while five others sustained injuries in a road accident in Bauchi State.
According to Bauchi police command spokesperson, DSP Mohammed Haruna, the students were travelling to Abuja for a fellowship of Christian Worship Conference, when the accident occurred at Lamari village, Sade in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi state around 2pm on Wednesday.
Police said a convoy of three buses conveying the students of University of Maiduguri and the School of Nursing to Abuja for the conference was involved in the accident, which claimed the lives of eight of the occupants of the bus.
The driver of one of the buses in an attempt to avert a head-on collision with another vehicle, police said, lost control and crushed a bus, leading to the death of some occupants of the bus while five of them sustained injuries.
“A Toyota Hummer bus with registration No MAG 547 AA Borno, lost control and somersaulted crashing into the bush.” He said
Victims of the accident according to the PPRO, were rushed to the General Hospital, Darazo, for treatment from where they were referred to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.
