5,300 teachers: Stop bellyaching, Oyo APC tells Ladoja
The All Progressives Congress, Oyo State chapter, has described as mere bellyaching on the part of the Accord Party and its leader, former governor Rashidi Ladoja, criticisms ascribed to them against the recruitment of 5,300 teachers in the state.
The party made this known in a release issued by its Director of Publicity, Mr. Olawale Shadare.
Ladoja and the Accord Party were quoted to have said in a press statement that the 5,300 teachers recently recruited by the government were non-existent and that the governor’s trip to the 33 local governments in the state distributing letters of appointment to the recruited teachers was “executive joblessness.”
According to the APC, the Accord Party should be pitied because it was apparent that the Ajimobi government had finally broken the shell of the long years of deceit of the people by Ladoja that he was the only friend of Oyo State teachers.
“A psycho analysis of that statement will reveal that Ladoja and Accord are afraid that their age-long deceit has been revealed. That statement was actually lamenting Ajimobi’s inroad into the hearts of Oyo State teachers. For a very long time, Ladoja deceived the people that he had the key to the hearts of the teachers through what he called his 30-students-in-class policy. That had always been his greatest claim to heroism. He is frightened that Ajimobi has made nonsense of that cheap heroism by employing 5,300 teachers and becoming a refrain on the lips of teachers,” the party said.
The APC said it wondered why a political party which had the love of the people at heart should be as inconsistent and self-serving as the Accord Party is through that statement.
“Initially, they inundated the press with the so-called paucity of teachers in Oyo State. Now that we have given every local government a sense of responsibility by employing their sons and daughters as teachers, something unprecedented in the history of the state, the same Accord Party is bellyaching. Ladoja even told us what is news to Oyo State: he employed 4,000 teachers! How come nobody but Ladoja knew this phantom recruitment until now?” the APC said.
The party said it was aware that the accolades the government had been receiving in the last few weeks must have unsettled Ladoja so much and as such, he and his party deserved pity.
“Being an old warhorse, Ladoja understands the implication of the huge crowd in all the local governments of the state that has been trooping out to welcome Ajimobi at each of the local governments as he distributes employment letters to the recently employed teachers. He also knows the implication of how Ajimobi employed the teachers from their localities as against what used to be done. But he should be man enough to own up that his game of deceit of the people is over and Ajimobi is the newest bride of the teachers,” said the APC.
The party said its government’s education policy is holistic and includes infrastructure in schools, welfare of teachers and students.
“Apart from employing more teachers than any government has ever done in Oyo State, our party-led government has built thousands of school blocks, building model schools in all parts of the state, teachers’ welfare is given top priority and students are given adequate attention.
“No government in the history of Oyo State has trained as many workers, including teachers, as Ajimobi has done. He has increased salaries of teachers, gives them running grants, lifted the stagnation of teachers and workers, has paid them three consecutive 13thmonth salary, while promoting them as at when due. Ladoja knows that if we continue like this, we have retired him from politics” the APC said.
