500 OGUN PILGRIMS ARRIVE SAUDI ARABIA SAFELY

The first batch of 500 pilgrims from Ogun State for this year’s Hajj exercise has arrived the Madinah International Airport, Saudi Arabia safely.

The Medview Airline flight which took them had earlier departed the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos, at 3.00am local time and touched down at exactly 9.20 this morning.

According to a member of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheik Iskieel Lawal, the trip was hitch free, adding that all the 500 pilgrims are in high spirit.

He added that after airport formalities, they will move to their respective rooms in Medinah already arranged by the Board to commence the Hajj rites.Ibikunle Amosun

Meanwhile, all the remaining 712 pilgrims from the State have been assured that they would be airlifted as scheduled.

The Amir Ul Hajj, Rt Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi gave this assurance this morning in Abeokuta while fielding questions from newsmen on arrangements of the State government.

Hon Adekunbi who is the Speaker of the State House of Assembly affirmed that already, arrangements have been made to ensure that all the 1212 pilgrims from the State enjoy a stress free stay while the exercise lasted.

He said welfare matters, particularly, accommodation, transportation and health issues among other logistics have been adequately taken care of by the State’s Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The Amir-Ul Hajj therefore enjoined them to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the exercise as given by the Saudi authorities, so that the State can retain its enviable number one position among its peers.
