2019: Arrest Those That Attacked Atiku Katsina Campaign Office, Foundation Tasks Police
The Atiku Care Foundation has called on the Police to make all efforts at apprehending the alleged All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs that attacked the the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign office situated along Dandagoro road, Batagarawa local Government Area of the Katsina State.
This was contained in a statement signed by the foundation’s Director Media and Publicity (North West), Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to newsmen on Monday in Kaduna.
It informed that barely hours after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Northwest Zonal rally in Katsina on Saturday, hoodlums suspected to be thugs of the APC attacked the campaign office, destroying items worth hundreds of millions of Naira.
The statement said that the Atiku Care Foundation Chairman, Ambassador Aliyu Ibn Abbas said that it was barbaric for the thugs to have attacked the office and innocent supporters who were celebrating there.
Information gathered by our reporter reveals that the incident which happened around 8pm on Saturday left about eight vehicles parked within the premises of the campaign office destroyed just as some party flags erected on the fencing round the office were brought down and carted away.
Though, it was also gathered that no life was lost neither were there injuries recorded in the attack which led the supporters to run for their lives.
An eyewitness who doesn’t want his name in the print said they (supporters of Atiku candidature for President in 2019) were gathered in the campaign office to rejoice and celebrate the successful and colourful outing during the PDP Northwest zonal rally when the heavily armed thugs attacked them.
The source said the thugs came in three tricycles, spy on them before launching the attack just as he alleged that the thugs were APC supporters in the area and state.
“We (supporters of Atiku) went to the PDP Northwest zonal rally that took place at the party’s secretariat in Katsina and returned to celebrate the colourful outing in our befitting campaign office refurbished in support of Atiku’s candidature ahead of the forthcoming General elections in 2019 when the Armed bandits and Armed thugs stormed and attacked us.
“Initially, they came in to spy on us before going back to pick up their arms to launch the attack. They smashed windscreens, mirrors and bodies of vehicles parked within the premises of the campaign office with cutlasses, sticks and others they were carrying on their hands. They damage our fence, brought down our party flags erected round the fence and went away with some of the party flags.
“We have reported the case at the Divisional Police Office in Batagarawa and the DPO with his men have swung into action immediately,” the source said.
The donor of the campaign office to Alhaji Atiku (Presidential aspirant), Alhaji Masaudu Abdulkadir confirmed the incident to newsmen when he described it as the handiwork of enemies of progress.
Abdulkadir who doubles as the Chairman Dan Guruf Nig. Ltd said the campaign office was just undergoing renovation and work has reached completion when the attack was carried out, noting that he will not be deterred by the attack rather his love for Atiku is waxing stronger by the day.
Meanwhile, Abdulkadir advised the youths to shun political thuggery while saying it adds no value to them.
