2015 Guber Election: RESOLUTIONS OF PDP OGUN WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT
PREAMBLES
On Monday 8th of December, 2014, the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State conducted it’s gubernatorial primary election under the supervision of officials from PDP national headquarters, INEC and security agencies with the emergence of our son Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) as the overwhelming winner having polled 705 votes(82%) out of possible 857.
Since the completion to the exercise, we have been hearing some discordant tunes and speculation emanating from some anti democratic elements within the party who have been trying to circumvent the due process and have their candidature imposed on us. Notwithstanding that no official communication has been received from any quarters on these speculations, it has become imperative that we respond to it as it is becoming lo under by the day and is being ascribed to some highly laced members of the National Working Committee of our party who we hold in high esteem
It is a statement of fact that Ogun West Senatorial District has never produced the Governor of Ogun state since creation over 38years ago. It is also a statement of fact that that Ogun West is today is the senatorial district where PDP is most popular in the entire state boasting of 9 out of 19 (2 HOR, 10 HOA and 7 councillors) current elected PDP office holders while Ogun East has 8 and Ogun Central only 2. PDP Ogun West also boasts of high concentration of political heavyweights, thousands of loyal party members and a voting population of 617,588 ( by 2010 registration exercise) which is the second highest in the state. Ogun West is therefore a fertile ground to harvest massive votes for the PDP in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
RESOLUTIONS
Having consulted widely with our people in all the 59 wards of Ogun West and having discussed extensively at various caucus meetings, we members of PDP in Ogun West Senatorial District hereby resolved as follows:
1) That we are sounding a serious note of warning to the few but powerful undemocratic elements and their collaborators within the party who appears bent on throwing Ogun PDP into needless crisis. It is not in the tradition of PDP to impose or select candidates for elections but to go through democratic process of open, transparent election as was conducted on Monday 8th December, 2014.
2) That we passionately appeal to the National leadership of our party not to be hoodwinked by these elements to short-circuit the transparent process that has produced Prince Gboyega Isiaka as Ogun State PDP gubernatorial candidate for the 2015 election.
3) That Ogun West people are seriously agitated for the long years of marginalization in the state and any undue interference to outrun or alter the result of the primary election held on Monday 8th December, 2014 will not only seriously alienate our people it will have undesirable consequences on the fortune of the party in the district.
4) That Prince Gboyega Isiaka having emerged as gubernatorial candidate of PDP Ogun State thought the process as defined by the party, we are irrevocably committed to his candidature.
5) That we condemn in the strongest terms possible the few personalities from Ogun West who are collaborating with the anti-democratic elements in the party to upturn the mandate freely given to Prince Gboyega Isiaka and we warn them in their own interest to immediately desist from this path of perfidy.
6) That we passionately appeal to our brothers and sisters in the other 2 senatorial districts(Ogun East and Ogun Central) to emphasize with Ogun West, give their maximum support to the candidature of Prince Isiaka and also vote massively for him in the forthcoming general election. Ajo je odun beni kan oni.
7) That the Ogun West PDP leadership caucus and the entire members of the party in the senatorial district will mobilize and work tirelessly with all stakeholders in the district to ensure that not less than 70% of Ogun West votes is delivered to the PDP in all the 2015 elections.
8) That we sincerely salute the selfless sacrifice of the other 2 gubernatorial aspirants from our district i.e. Hon Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade and Omoba Segun Adewale and declare them the heroes of this struggle.
