$1.69m fraud: Court adjourns Ajudua’s trial till Sept 21,…awaits appellate court ruling

An Ikeja High Court on Friday adjourned further hearing in the trial of one-time Lagos socialite, Fred Ajudua, till Sept. 21.

Justice Kudirat Jose adjourned the matter to allow the Court of Appeal rule on the appeal filed by Ajudua challenging the competence of the charge against him.

Ajudua and one Charles Orie are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for allegedly defrauding two Dutch businessmen – Messrs Remy Cina and Pierre Vijgen, of $1.69 million (N252.8 million).

Justice Jose informed the parties in the case she had been informed ruling by the appellate court would be delivered on June 18, therefore, her court have to wait for the it before proceeding further in the matter.

She therefore vacated the court’s order directing the EFCC to produce its witnesses for commencement of the trial.
