Supreme Court orders Re-hearing of Election Petition against Amosun

….. Asks Appeal Court President to set up new panel
The Supreme Court on Tuesday reversed a judgement by the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal. The court also instructed the President of Appeal Court to set up new panel for the state. The Tribunal had struck out a case brought to it by Mega Progressive Peoples Party. The party wanted the Tribunal to nullify the April 11, 2015 gubernatorial election on account of exclusion. The name of the party was excluded from the ballot paper making the party to miss out in the election.
The party through its lawyer, Omereonye Morgan filed the case SP/665/2015, against the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC; All Progressives Congress, APC; and its candidate, Ibikunle Amosun as well as his Deputy.
Taiwo Morgan represented INEC , George Oyeniyi represented APC while Dr. Olumide Ayeni was Amosun’s lawyer.
Speaking with NigerianEcho, the lawyer representing Mega Party, Omereonye said he was happy with the judgement saying the era of dismissing cases on technical grounds has gone for good.
