Chairman of Nigeria Senate Committee on Information, Senator Dino Melaye on Tuesday disclosed that former Governor Rotimi Amaechi has been scheduled  to appear  for screening  tomorrow (Wedenesday) at the Senate.

Melaye disclosed this in a live chat with Channels TV at the Senate premises in Abuja.

According to the Senator,  the report  on  Amaechi by  the Senate committee on ethics will be submitted on Wednesday.

He also expressed optimism that Amaechi’s screening which is expected to follow  the submission of the report will be smooth sailing.

Melaye  added that All Progressive Congress, APC governors have  met  and expressed support for Amaechi.

He also said the APC caucus has been working to reach out to the  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP caucus which is also expected to meet today.

He said some lobbying  of PDP and horse trading have been going on  so that there will be a smooth screening for Amaechi.

Melaye also said due to public outcry over alleged lack of thorough screening of the first set  ministerial nominees, the senate has decided to  henceforth screen only three nominees per day.

Earlier , the order paper for  the day’s  proceedings was changed, reports said.

The Senate however screened two ministerial nominees on Tuesday.

Those screened  were Barrister Adebayo Shittu from Oyo state and Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim who was asked to take a bow and go after her introductory remarks.

After screening the two nominees, the senate adjourned plenary till Wednesday at 10.00.
