Naval Chief Calls For Effective Prosecution Of Oil Thieves, Warns Officers Not To Conspire

Nigeria Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has called for the effective prosecution of oil thieves in Nigeria and at the same time warned men and officers not to conspire with perpetrators.
The Naval Chief made this statements after the destruction of an illegal refinery by the base operations of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder in Rivers State.
According to him, oil theft had been intense in the last two months, with revelation that 78 illegal refineries and over 900,000 litres of stolen crude were destroyed within the period in an operation led by the Base Operations Officer of the NNS Pathfinder, Commander Innocent Ejiofor.
Meeting with senior naval officers at the Eastern Naval Command in Port Harcourt Area, CNS warned officers not to collide with the criminals, adding that any naval officer caught aiding and abetting crude oil theft would not be spared.
He thereafter hinted that the Navy was re-strategising to make life unbearable for crude oil thieves in the country.
