Alleged Corruption: Suswam Gets Bail

Justice A. R. Mohammed of an Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Gabriel Suswam, the ex-governor of Benue state. The former governor together with his administration commissioner for finance are being accused of mismanagement of over N3. 1billion belonging to the state. Suswam who was escorted into the court premises by officials of the anti-graft agency and the commissioner were granted bail in the sum of N100million each and one surety each who shall be not less than a director on grade level 12 in the employment of the federal, state or local government. The ex-governor and his Finance Commissioner are in addition, will submit their international passports to the court. The trial judge, Justice Mohammed adjourned the case till December 8 and 9. Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has insisted that his predecessor, Suswam, must face trial to account for his stewardship while in office as governor for eight years.
